About this role
WSP is seeking an Early Career Structural Engineer to join our Structural Engineering Team, working out of our Los Angeles office. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to projects that meet clients' objectives and solve their challenges within a growing organization.
The successful candidate will perform structural design of new buildings and restoration of existing buildings across the United States. This includes analyzing and designing superstructures and foundations in timber, concrete, steel, and masonry, while utilizing the latest technology and digital tools for design.
Candidates will be part of a collaborative team environment, engaging with colleagues around the world through practice area networks and other forums of learning. The role emphasizes responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, adhering to WSP's Code of Conduct.
This position provides advanced training in structural design and digital design technology, offering a strong foundation for career growth. The role requires a passion for structures and architecture, excellent communication skills, and demonstrated teamwork abilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline
- 0 to 1 years of relevant post-education experience
- Excellent research skills with an analytical mindset
- Familiarity with process and concepts for design/build
- Familiarity with relevant structural and civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience
- Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment
- Experience with Building Information Modeling software, such as Autodesk Revit
Responsibilities
- Perform structural design of new buildings and restoration of existing buildings throughout the United States
- Analyze and design superstructures and foundations in timber, concrete, steel, and masonry
- Utilize latest technology and digital tools for structural design
- Complete training on assigned tasks related to structural engineering
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct
- Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
