About this role

Gotion Inc., a leader in next-generation electric vehicle and energy storage technologies, is building a brownfield EV battery manufacturing facility in Manteno, IL. This Construction Manager role will manage the entire construction process from start to finish.

The Construction Manager will develop and implement a construction plan ensuring completion on time, within budget, and to highest quality standards. They will coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and government agencies, and oversee all aspects including site preparation, foundation work, building construction, and equipment installation.

This role reports directly to the Chief Engineer and works closely with senior management. The position is part of a company powered by a leading power battery technology company, innovating in lithium batteries and related systems for electric vehicles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Fluent in Mandarin/Chinese, ideally Native.
  • 10+ years of experience in construction management, with at least 5 years of experience on large, complex projects.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to develop and implement project plans, track progress, and manage budgets.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the construction of the new brownfield EV battery manufacturing plant from start to finish in Kankakee County, Illinois.
  • Develop and implement a construction plan that ensures the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Coordinate with all stakeholders, including subcontractors, suppliers, and government agencies.
  • Oversee all aspects of construction, including site preparation, foundation work, building construction, and installation of equipment, including the shipment and installation of manufacturing machinery.
  • Ensure that all safety and environmental regulations are met.
  • Manage the project budget and track expenses.
  • Communicate regularly with the Chief Engineer and other senior management on the progress of the project.
