About this role
Atlas is a nationwide leader in civil engineering, materials testing and geotechnical consulting services for environmental, industrial and infrastructure construction projects. We are seeking a Senior Bridge Hydraulic Engineer to join our Duluth, GA team.
In this role, you will allocate resources and develop schedules for hydraulic engineering projects to deliver within budget and on time. You will develop and review bridge hydraulic studies including 1D and 2D modeling, bridge scour analyses and preliminary bridge layouts, as well as culvert studies and FEMA floodplain modeling.
You will perform QA/QC on internal and external hydraulic studies to ensure projects comply with local, state and federal regulations and standards. You will also train developing engineers in bridge hydraulics, culvert design and design of additional drainage structures.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
- 10 years' experience in hydraulic and hydrological engineering.
- Professional Engineering license required.
- Experience with HEC-RAS, SRH2-D, OpenBridge, Microstation, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam preferred.
- Experience with FEMA floodway coordination.
- Excellent technical writing and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of DOT Drainage Manuals, DOT Bridge Design Manuals and FHWA hydraulic publications.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
Responsibilities
- Allocate resources and develop schedules for hydraulic engineering projects to deliver within budget and on time.
- Develop and review bridge hydraulic studies including 1D and 2D modeling, bridge scour analyses and preliminary bridge layouts.
- Perform culvert studies, FEMA floodplain and regulatory floodway modeling, and coastal and storm surge modeling.
- Design and/or model miscellaneous drainage structures.
- QA/QC internal and external hydraulic studies to ensure projects comply with local, state and federal regulations and standards.
- Train developing engineers in bridge hydraulics, culvert design and design of additional drainage structures.
