This role involves thorough review of design documents on behalf of the owner for accuracy and consistency with the owner's program. You will also check that designs adhere to local building codes, zoning regulations, and other relevant standards.

Services will be provided on an as-needed, part-time basis during the preconstruction phase of projects. You will work closely with the owner's team to assess project feasibility relative to budget constraints, site limitations, and project timeline.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience related to design of commercial or institutional buildings.
  • Experience with Autodesk Software (Revit, CAD).
  • Understanding and knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, permitting, building construction, building systems, and site requirements.
  • Experience or knowledge of energy modeling/code compliance, LEED review, and security (preferred).
  • Knowledge and/or experience with historic preservation and renovation (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly review design documents on behalf of the owner for accuracy and consistency with the owner's program.
  • Check that designs adhere to local building codes, zoning regulations, and other relevant standards.
  • Assess project feasibility relative to budget constraints, site limitations, and project timeline.
  • Ensure design documents comply with owner's program requirements and objectives.
  • Identify potential design issues and coordinate resolutions with the project team.
