About this role
We're looking for a Structural Engineer to join the HMB team, focusing on the design of transportation-related structures including bridges, culverts, and retaining walls. This role involves working with reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, steel, and timber elements to deliver critical infrastructure projects.
In this position, you will assist senior design staff in structural design, drafting, and review, while also collaborating with the structures group and other disciplines. You will ensure all designs comply with applicable local, state, and federal guidelines and codes, and develop engineer cost estimates for projects.

Requirements
- BS or MS in Civil Engineering
- Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer
- Experience designing transportation structures including bridges, culverts, and walls
- 5+ years of experience in structural design
- Project and/or Client Management experience is preferred
- Ability to guide junior staff as well as participate in the design and detailing of structural design projects
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Proficiency with CADD software (preferably MicroStation or AutoCAD) and structural design software (i.e. Bentley LEAP Bridge, OpenBridge, MDX, MIDAS, etc)
Responsibilities
- Design transportation-related structures including bridges, culverts, and retaining walls with reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, steel, and timber elements
- Assist senior design staff in structural design, drafting, and review
- Collaborate with the structures group, other disciplines, and sometimes clients to complete projects
- Ensure designs comply with applicable local, state, and federal guidelines and codes
- Develop engineer cost estimates for projects
- Guide junior staff by providing direction and constructive feedback
