About this role

The Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM) is seeking Contractor Resident Engineers and Project Managers to monitor public construction projects statewide, including CM@Risk, new construction, renovations, demolition, environmental remediation, and energy conservation initiatives. This role supports projects that help achieve a zero-carbon future while serving the Commonwealth's citizens.

Day-to-day, you will observe and document ongoing construction activities to monitor job progress and ensure contractor work complies with project plans and specifications. You will maintain accurate project records, verify that contractor as-builts are up-to-date, and assist with oversight of MEP and Enclosure Commissioning, utility incentives, punch list, and project close-out.

Working closely with the Designer, Contractor, and Project Manager, you will uphold quality control, enforce appropriate construction methods, safety requirements, and adherence to contract documents. You also assist the design team in scheduling and coordinating all on-site testing to ensure tests are conducted properly and in compliance with applicable codes and regulations.

Requirements

  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license in Massachusetts or ability to obtain within six months
  • Experience with CM@Risk project delivery methods and public construction contracting
  • Knowledge of construction methods, procedures, safety requirements, and relevant building codes and regulations
  • Ability to read and interpret project plans, specifications, and contract documents
  • Experience with MEP and Enclosure Commissioning processes
  • Strong documentation and record-keeping skills for daily reports and as-built tracking
  • Familiarity with accessibility codes and guidelines (e.g., ADA, MAAB)

Responsibilities

  • Observe and document daily ongoing construction activities to monitor job progress and ensure compliance with project plans and specifications
  • Work with the Designer, Contractor, and Project Manager to maintain quality control and enforce appropriate construction methods, procedures, and safety requirements
  • Ensure adherence to contract documents and compliance with all related codes, regulations, and accessibility guidelines
  • Assist the Designer/Consultant Team in scheduling and coordinating all on-site testing, ensuring tests are conducted properly
  • Maintain accurate project records and verify that contractor as-builts are up-to-date
  • Assist with oversight of MEP and Enclosure Commissioning, utility incentives, punch list, and project close-out and delivery
