About this role
GenScript seeks a talented, detail-oriented, self-driven Construction Project Manager for its Operations Department in Piscataway, NJ. This fully onsite role involves planning, design, construction, commissioning, validation, and engineering process systems development for facilities. The position reports to the Director of US Site Operations.
Develop comprehensive project plans with requirement gathering, feasibility analysis, risk assessment, and solution formulation. Manage cost estimation, procurement, bidding for design, construction, and long-lead equipment. Oversee contract execution ensuring compliance, quality, and deadlines.
Ensure projects meet US regulations through government procedures and permit applications. Coordinate with construction firms, supervisory, and contracting units to handle technical, quality, safety, and timeline aspects. Organize factory acceptance tests, commissioning, and validation to meet user requirements.
Lead final inspections, handovers, documentation, and project settlements. Regularly report progress, compile reports, analyze lessons learned, and suggest improvements. The role is valid for 1-2 years with opportunity to transition to facility manager post-construction.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical/Electrical, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields
- 10+ years of experience in biopharmaceuticals with substantial project management and facility operations experience
- Hands-on experience in managing construction from business requirement collection through design, construction, commissioning, validation, and final settlement
- Strong management capabilities
- Strong reporting capabilities
- Experience in cost estimation and control plans for construction projects
- Knowledge of US regulatory compliance and permitting for biopharma facilities
- Proficiency in procurement, bidding, and contract management for engineering projects
Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive project plans ensuring projects proceed according to set objectives, including requirement gathering, feasibility analysis, risk assessment, and solution formulation
- Manage cost estimation for all project phases and create cost control plans
- Oversee bidding and procurement for project design, construction, and long-lead equipment
- Manage contract signing and execution with suppliers and contractors, ensuring compliance with terms, quality, and deadlines
- Plan and execute government and third-party procedures to ensure project compliance with US regulations
- Plan and manage government permits applications
- Manage technical, quality, safety, and timeline aspects of projects, coordinating with construction firms and units
- Organize factory acceptance tests, commissioning, and validation to ensure systems meet user requirements
