About this role

IMEG is hiring a Structural Engineering Intern in Idaho Falls, ID, to work closely with experienced engineers and consultants on the analysis, design, and implementation of structural systems for buildings and other structures. This role supports project delivery by contributing to project work within budget and collaborating with cross-functional teams to help meet project goals and client expectations.

Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with structural design tasks in accordance with applicable codes and IMEG standards, researching project resources, and supporting design-related information gathering. You will also help maintain client relationships, project design notebooks, and permanent record documentation while coordinating design efforts with other disciplines, suppliers, and project partners.

Requirements

  • Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred
  • Strong interest in design consulting
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Responsibilities

  • Assist with structural design tasks in accordance with applicable codes and IMEG standards
  • Research project resources and support design-related information gathering
  • Help maintain client relationships, project design notebooks, and permanent record documentation
  • Coordinate design efforts and schedules with other disciplines, suppliers, and project partners
  • Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while tracking project progress
  • Review project documents for accuracy and completeness before final check
  • Prepare and issue addendum information as needed
  • Conduct periodic job site observations and provide other services required by the contract services agreement
