About this role

The Construction Site Manager is responsible for overseeing the construction portion of solar projects. This role establishes the work schedule, manages sub-contractors, and assigns the proper crews and trades to a project.

Day-to-day responsibilities include ensuring proper tools and materials are available, reviewing designs with engineering, and ensuring the project is built according to design. The manager sets up initial site infrastructure, creates daily work plans, and monitors the construction site to oversee work in progress.

As the primary on-site leader, the manager leads execution teams and all subcontractors on assigned projects. This role supports the Project Manager and Assistant Project Manager, coordinates with the construction, engineering, and purchasing departments, and attends job safety, quality, and progress meetings.

Requirements

  • Advanced level of knowledge in communication, relationship building, adaptability, decision making, and construction knowledge
  • Advanced level of knowledge in civil and electrical knowledge, safety, and managing in a stressful environment
  • Intermediate level knowledge in fundamentals of contract requirements, change orders, and scheduling concepts
  • Basic level of knowledge in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word)
  • Understanding of environmental concepts (BMPs and SWPPP)
  • Ability to interpret state rules and regulations
  • 10+ years of direct construction management experience

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the construction portion of solar projects, establishing work schedules and managing sub-contractors
  • Set up initial layout and site infrastructure services including water, power, internet, office trailers, and required facilities
  • Create and implement daily work plans, ensuring appropriate staffing for daily construction activities
  • Act as the primary on-site leader, managing execution teams and all subcontractors on assigned projects
  • Evaluate contractual scope of work and the impact of client bulletins, field directives, and scheduling changes
  • Manage and develop long-term relationships with customers, consultants, prime contractors, and subcontractors
  • Shut down a construction site when conditions warrant it, such as weather or safety concerns
  • Ensure project document controls are in compliance with contract requirements
