In this position, you will assist in producing design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications. You will perform research, development, and detailed design in partnership with the project team, applying engineering techniques and procedures to projects of varying size and complexity.
You will work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects, leveraging your proficiency in MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office. HNTB's historic growth and employee-owned culture make this an exciting time to build a meaningful career while helping build communities.
As an Electrical Design Engineer II, you will develop conceptual and detailed designs using current tools and software. HNTB fosters a collaborative environment where you can grow your expertise in transportation infrastructure, from roadway lighting to movable bridge power distribution systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree in Engineering and 1 year of relevant experience.
- Exhibits proficiency in applying engineering, geometric and algebraic principles in your work.
- Displays proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and MicroStation and/or AutoCAD or other software as required for job assignments.
- Electrical Engineering design for Civil Transportation projects.
- Design experience with low voltage power distribution, street lighting, traffic signals, area lighting, pedestrian lighting, and aesthetic lighting.
- Design experience with power distribution and control systems for Movable Bridges.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
- Experience with Roadway and Highway Lighting, AGI32 Lighting Software, and completing Plans, Specifications and Estimate construction packages for Municipal and DOT clients.
Responsibilities
- Completes assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.
- Responsible for preparation and/or modification for select portions of project reports, plans, designs, and calculations.
- Develops project quantities and assists with development of cost estimates.
- Assists engineering teams with organization and administrative support of design files.
- Able to self-sufficiently complete various tasks including research, data collection, field investigations, and design of projects.
- Design low voltage power distribution systems, street lighting, traffic signals, area lighting, pedestrian lighting, aesthetic lighting, and other electrical systems.
- Design power distribution and control systems for Movable Bridges.
- Prepare electrical engineering designs that are responsive to project needs.
