About this role
KPFF Consulting Engineers is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join our San Francisco office, contributing to a diverse portfolio of land development and infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for an engineer ready to take on greater project responsibility while continuing to develop technical expertise, client exposure, and leadership skills.
In this role, you will prepare engineering designs for site development, grading, drainage, stormwater, utility, and roadway improvement projects. You will perform engineering calculations, technical analyses, and design studies, and develop construction documents and specifications using Civil 3D and related design tools.
You will support project planning, scheduling, and coordination efforts throughout the design process, and assist with permitting, agency coordination, and regulatory approvals. Collaboration with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal project teams is central to delivering thoughtful, high-quality solutions.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- 3-5 years of civil engineering design experience
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required
- Progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong understanding of civil engineering design principles, standards, and regulatory requirements
- Effective communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
Responsibilities
