About this role

Capita is recruiting a Site Agent to lead the on-site delivery of highways and civil engineering projects across North Tyneside. This key leadership role is responsible for the safe, efficient and commercially sound delivery of works on site. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will take full responsibility for managing site activity.

You will take overall control of day-to-day site operations on highways and infrastructure projects. This includes planning, organising and sequencing works to achieve programme and productivity targets. You will manage resources including labour, plant, materials and subcontractors while monitoring progress and managing risk.

You will oversee operatives and supervisory teams, including Site Managers, Site Engineers, General Foremen and subcontractors. Build effective working relationships with clients, stakeholders and internal support teams. Ensure projects are delivered in line with programme, quality, health & safety and budgetary requirements.

Maintain accurate site records and keep project documentation up to date. Support commercial delivery through cost control, forecasting and financial recovery. This fixed term position offers involvement in delivering complex highways projects within a major outsourcer.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Site Agent or senior site management role within construction or highways
  • CSCS certification
  • SMSTS or equivalent construction management qualification
  • Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, including CDM
  • Experience estimating and controlling labour, plant and material costs
  • Experience monitoring and managing contract programmes
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, able to engage effectively at all levels
