About this role
As the Environmental Engineer II, you will guide the site’s compliance efforts and support a safe, sustainable operation. You’ll manage environmental systems, inspections, and reporting, directly influencing the facility’s environmental footprint and performance. You will also interface with regulatory agencies to stay compliant and inform management of new laws.
Your day-to-day involves performing plant environmental studies on pollutants, waste handling, and health. You will research and analyze data to prepare required federal, state, and local reports, and coordinate hazardous and non-hazardous waste shipments. You also conduct regular inspections for hazardous waste, storm water, and housekeeping, and assist with sampling efforts.
You will collaborate with management and supervisory personnel to ensure application of environmental laws and programs. You will coordinate compliance inspections with state or federal officials and assist in follow-up corrective actions. The role also involves implementing and maintaining an ISO 14001 environmental management system.
This role provides the chance to directly influence the facility’s environmental footprint and performance. You will develop expertise in environmental management systems and regulatory compliance, with opportunities to advance within Daimler Truck North America. The position also offers exposure to energy management programs like ISO 50001.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field and 2–4 years of experience.
- Working knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations, including air quality, hazardous waste (RCRA), stormwater, and spill response requirements.
- Familiarity with environmental management systems, including ISO 14001 and exposure to ISO 50001 or other energy-focused programs.
- Ability to conduct inspections, sampling, and incident response related to hazardous waste, stormwater, and environmental housekeeping.
- Experience preparing environmental reports and documentation, including required submissions to state, federal, or corporate entities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to analyze data and present findings clearly.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with regulatory agencies, operations teams, and corporate environmental partners.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including rotational weekend work and participation in spill response as needed.
Responsibilities

- Coordinate environmental compliance inspections (air, water, RCRA, etc.) with state or federal officials and assist with corrective actions.
- Implement and maintain an environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001.
