About this role

Haley & Aldrich is seeking a creative and self-motivated Staff Civil/Environmental Engineer 1 to join our growing team in Missoula or Helena, MT. You will tackle complex environmental projects alongside collaborative, multidisciplinary teams, contributing to meaningful work in the built and natural environments that strengthens communities.

In this role, you will conduct routine data collection, synthesis, and analysis using approved procedures, and perform environmental site investigations and associated field work. You will also observe construction remediation, conduct groundwater and temperature monitoring, and perform soil and water sampling in the field.

You will work with passionate colleagues driven by technical excellence and continuous learning. The work requires troubleshooting problems in remote locations, documenting project-related activities, and assisting project engineers with environmental data analyses while complying with company and client Health & Safety protocols.

This is a full-time position offering an opportunity to grow professionally within a company committed to accelerating your development. You will contribute to developing technical scopes of work and cost estimates, and take ownership for task completion with resourceful solutions and proactive questioning.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
  • Has or applies for initial professional certification such as EIT, FE, or equivalent.
  • OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER and MSHA certifications preferred.
  • Relevant work experience a plus.
  • Must comply with the Guiding Principles and Code of Behavior articulated in the Company Charter.
  • Must comply with company and client Health & Safety protocols.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine data collection, synthesis, and analysis using approved procedures appropriate for the discipline.
  • Perform environmental site investigation and associated field work.
  • Perform and observe construction remediation field work.
  • Perform groundwater and temperature monitoring and soil and water sampling.
  • Assist in identifying technical issues and approaches for evaluation and contribute to developing technical solutions.
  • Review and apply applicable regulations as appropriate and assist with developing technical scopes of work and cost estimates for proposals.
  • Document project-related activities and troubleshoot problems in remote locations.
  • Assist project engineers with environmental data analyses and observe field investigations and construction activities.
