About this role

Concentric Integration, a subsidiary of Baxter & Woodman, Inc., is seeking an Automation Design Engineer to design water/wastewater instrumentation, process control systems, and technology improvements for municipal consulting engineering projects. In this role, you will design automation, controls, and SCADA systems for water/wastewater processes, including communications, PLC architecture, and instrumentation. You will prepare Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), control schematics, panel layouts, and bills of material, and occasionally visit client sites to investigate field conditions.

You will work on multidisciplinary teams to create design documents for process improvements at water/wastewater facilities, collaborating with engineers across various offices. Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in control systems and/or electrical design.
  • Advanced computer skills, literacy, and proficiency.
  • Effective oral, written, and digital communication skills.
  • Ability to easily interact with other design staff.
  • Effective organizational skills for productive tasks and time management.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Design automation, controls, and related SCADA systems for water/wastewater processes, including communications, PLC architecture, instrumentation, and related software and hardware.
  • Prepare Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), control system network architecture diagrams, control schematics, panel layouts, and bills of material.
  • Prepare project specifications as they pertain to instrumentation and process controls.
  • Review shop drawings and assist with construction services.
  • Occasionally visit client sites to investigate existing field conditions as required for preparing design documents.
  • Work with other engineers in various offices to complete design work.
  • Report to Assistant Department Manager for work responsibilities, scheduling, and quality control.
