Northrop Grumman seeks an Environmental Engineer II/III to ensure environmental and regulatory compliance across site operations. This role is integral to supporting revolutionary systems that impact lives worldwide, from aerospace advancements to critical infrastructure.

Day-to-day responsibilities include administering and updating environmental policies, interpreting regulations, and creating risk analyses aligned with EPA, state, and local mandates. The engineer will manage inspections for storm water, air quality, and spill prevention while serving as a point of contact for regulatory agency interactions.

This position collaborates with internal teams and external partners, including government entities, contractors, design, construction, and engineering departments. The ideal candidate will drive an environmentally responsible culture and function as a subject matter expert across complex, technical projects.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of US environmental laws and regulations, including the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, EPCRA, and RCRA.
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem-solving ability and self-motivation in a team environment.
  • Experience interpreting and communicating environmental requirements to diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to prepare and submit reports, permits, and notifications to federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Proficiency in risk analysis and monitoring environmental metrics.
  • Experience conducting internal audits and driving a culture of environmental responsibility.
  • Ability to manage regulatory interactions and coordinate with government entities and contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and communicate environmental requirements, identify compliance issues, and coordinate initiatives with facility personnel and legal stakeholders.
  • Ensure inspections are completed for storm water, air quality, spill prevention, and other required areas.
  • Function as a point of contact for regulatory agency interactions, permit evaluation, and new process introductions.
  • Ensure environmental regulatory work by contractors, consultants, and employees meets applicable standards.
  • Conduct internal environmental audits for continuous improvement.
  • Manage risk analysis overview of environmental risks based on tracking and trending issues or incidents.
  • Complete thorough environmental incident investigations, regulatory reporting, and follow-up on corrective actions.
  • Support and direct sustainability initiatives.
