About this role

The Senior Environmental Project Manager provides overall technical direction and project management to environmental projects of considerable size, scope or complexity. This role ensures projects are designed and conducted in accordance with applicable regulations, guidance, and client-specified requirements. The position delivers technical and managerial advice while maintaining responsibility for technical quality.

Project management responsibilities include coordinating and completing projects on time, within budget, and within scope. The manager oversees all aspects of projects, sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors progress. Reports are prepared for upper management regarding the financial status of projects.

The successful candidate works directly with clients to ensure deliverables fall within the applicable scope and budget while meeting company quality requirements. Coordination with other departments ensures all aspects of each project are compatible. Support is provided for hiring new talent as needed to fulfill client needs.

A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. The role relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals while leading and directing the work of others. Accepting ownership for new requests enhances department and organization reputation.

Responsibilities

  • Provides overall management and technical direction to projects of considerable size, scope or complexity
  • Coordinates internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
  • Ensures that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Assists in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Develops a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
  • Manages changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
  • Manages the relationship with the client and all stakeholders
  • Delegates project tasks based on junior staff members' individual strengths, skill sets, and experience levels
