About this role

We're looking for a Site Engineer to join our Commercial and Projects Paving team in Auckland. This is a hands-on role where you'll help set projects up for success from the ground up, supporting planning, site set-up, quality control and coordination of people, plant and materials.

Day to day, you'll be close to the action on site, building strong working relationships and keeping communication clear. You'll help turn plans into progress by making sure the right information, resources and standards are in place so the job can run well.

Our Commercial and Projects Paving team delivers serious work that matters, but we do it with a relaxed, human approach. We set high standards, switch on when it counts, and keep moving forward together.

At Fulton Hogan, we genuinely care about the wellbeing of our people and giving them the tools and opportunities they need to succeed and grow with us. You'll have access to ongoing training and development with clear career growth and progression opportunities.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor or Diploma of Civil Engineering, or equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution.
  • Experience in civil contracting or infrastructure project delivery, with paving experience preferred.
  • A solid understanding of engineering principles and project management fundamentals.
  • The ability to coordinate well with engineers, contractors, crews and other project stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, a practical mindset and the ability to think ahead.
  • A collaborative, team-focused style and a genuine willingness to learn and grow.

Responsibilities

  • Support site set-up, planning, quality control and resource coordination.
  • Carry out site investigations and field testing as required.
  • Interpret contract documentation, codes, regulations and industry standards, then turn them into clear work instructions for site crews.
  • Monitor quality and compliance to make sure work is delivered to specification.
  • Support senior engineers and operational leaders with project delivery, construction coordination and day-to-day problem solving.
  • Keep safety, environmental and quality standards front of mind, and step in early when something does not look right.
  • Identify risks, report incidents and near misses, and contribute ideas to improve how work gets done.

Benefits

  • Medical insurance and Life insurance after the eligibility period.
  • KiwiSaver employer contributions after service milestones, up to 7%.
  • Parental leave top-up payment with additional return-to-work support.
  • Ongoing training and development, with clear career growth and progression opportunities.
  • Great discounts at a wide range of retailers.
