About this role

The Senior Project Manager provides overall direction and leadership while owning outcomes for significantly complex projects or multiple projects at once. This role fully implements and manages project operations, profitability, and administration in support of JE Dunn strategy, vision, and values.

Core activities include leading safety culture initiatives, managing prestart checklists, and supporting preconstruction tasks such as quantity takeoffs, scope development, and bid packages. The position also leads buyout schedules, verifies pricing, and oversees issuance of subcontracts.

Daily coordination spans subcontractors, owners, field teams, and design partners through OAC meetings, progress reviews, and change request processes. Project schedules are prepared with superintendents using Lean principles while monitoring materials, labor, and procurement to meet deadlines.

Requirements

  • Experience providing direction and leadership on significantly complex projects or multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to make decisions within defined limits of authority and consult senior management on other decisions
  • Proficiency managing project operations, profitability, and administration
  • Experience leading safety culture initiatives and investigating incidents
  • Knowledge of preconstruction processes, buyout schedules, and submittal management
  • Skill preparing and managing project schedules using Lean principles

Responsibilities

  • Leads all aspects of the company’s safety culture and creates awareness by demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment through individual actions and mentoring others
  • Manages the JE Dunn prestart checklist form and supports the preconstruction team including quantity takeoff, scope review, and bid package development
  • Leads plan and implementation of buyout schedule, verifies pricing and scope, and manages issuance of subcontracts
  • Manages the submittal schedule setup, reviews and approves shop drawings, and ensures approved submittals return to subcontractors per schedule
  • Coordinates with Logistics to obtain pricing on materials and equipment and confers with risk management on subcontractor bonding requirements
  • Coordinates the various stakeholders of the project including subcontractors, owner, field, design team, and vendors
  • Prepares project schedule with the Project Superintendent, gathers input from the project team, and utilizes Lean principles as appropriate
  • Identifies potential schedule impacts including scope, weather, manpower and changes, and facilitates mitigation plans
