About this role

Osmose Utilities is seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to join our structural engineering team, focusing on steel structure repair and restoration. This role is designed for engineers prepared to take on advanced technical responsibilities and lead medium to large-scale projects.

Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing complex restoration and repair designs for steel, concrete, and foundation structures, including unique or non-standard solutions with minimal guidance. You will develop and document structural calculations in conformance to applicable codes and standards, and coordinate all design, modeling, and drafting activities.

This position requires expertise in structural modeling and analysis, execution of PE review responsibilities, and the ability to provide final technical direction. You will work closely with Business Development and Product Managers to develop new products and pursue project opportunities, while also providing field support and training to field personnel on new repair methodologies.

In addition to project leadership, this role plays a key part in mentoring less experienced engineers, refining departmental standards, and contributing to continuous improvement of engineering practices. Requirements

  • Must be currently authorized to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future
  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural, Civil, or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license required
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in structural engineering
  • Demonstrated expertise in steel, concrete, and foundation design
  • Experience with existing structure restoration and repair applications preferred
  • Experience leading medium-to-large, complex projects with minimal guidance
  • Significant field exposure to construction and restoration projects, with the ability to adapt designs to field conditions

Responsibilities

  • Oversee design development of assigned steel structure repair projects, including coordination of all design, modeling, and drafting activities
  • Develop and document structural calculations for steel structure repairs in conformance to applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements
  • Work with fabricators and vendors to utilize the most cost-effective materials and processes on steel structure repairs
  • Collaborate with Business Development and Product Managers to develop new products and pursue project opportunities
  • Support pilot projects by providing field support, writing reports, and compiling data for presentations
  • Oversee field activities on assigned projects to ensure conformance with project and customer requirements
  • Provide training to field personnel on new repair methodologies and techniques
  • Work with the Manager of Engineering to develop drawing standards and specifications for steel structure repair projects
