As an Environmental Engineer I, you will support environmental compliance, health, safety, and sustainability initiatives across site operations, partnering with operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership to achieve GoalZERO performance.

Your day-to-day involves ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, assisting with permitting and reporting, and monitoring environmental performance aligned with ISO 14001. You will champion the GoalZERO safety culture by conducting safety audits, participating in incident investigations, and supporting industrial hygiene programs.

You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including HSE specialists, engineers, and site leadership. The role emphasizes continuous improvement through tracking KPIs, conducting internal audits, and driving data-based enhancements to reduce risks and improve performance.

This position offers exposure to cutting-edge recycling technology like MoReTec and the chance to contribute to a more sustainable future. Depending on expertise, the role could align as an Associate Engineer or HSE Specialist, providing flexibility for career development.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, industrial hygiene, environmental engineering, fire safety & protection, or equivalent degree (Option 1) OR minimum 10+ years relevant environmental or industrial experience (Option 2)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status now and in the future
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Preferred: Experience in chemical or manufacturing environment
  • Preferred: Knowledge of EPA/OSHA regulations
  • Preferred: ISO 14001 familiarity and certifications (CSP, HAZWOPER, CHMM)

Responsibilities

  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations
  • Assist in permitting, reporting, and regulatory interpretation
  • Monitor environmental performance aligned with ISO 14001 and OEMS
  • Champion GoalZERO culture by supporting safety and industrial hygiene programs
  • Conduct safety audits and participate in incident investigations
  • Track and report KPIs, and support audits and compliance reviews
  • Deliver HSE training and partner with site personnel to provide coaching and mentorship
