About this role

Lead and support the delivery of environmental and planning approvals for infrastructure, energy, and development projects across Australia. Drive the development and implementation of approvals strategies, delivering technically robust outcomes for diverse project types including EIAs and development applications.

Manage delivery of Environmental Impact Assessments and development approval documentation while identifying approvals risks early. Provide technical oversight of environmental assessments and lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver approvals within scope and budget. Influence design outcomes to reduce environmental constraints and approvals complexity.

Work closely with Australian-based teams to deliver environmental approvals scopes across sectors such as mining, energy, transport, and water. Collaborate with ecology and approvals teams to understand project requirements and develop effective spatial solutions using GIS and digital visualisation.

Build trusted advisor relationships with clients and regulators while supporting major pursuits and proposal development. Contribute to continuous improvement of geospatial workflows and tools to ensure high-quality spatial outputs for national projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geospatial Science, Environmental Science, Ecology, Geography, GIS, or a related discipline.
  • 5–10 years of experience in geospatial, environmental, or related disciplines (flexible depending on level).
  • Demonstrated experience in GIS, spatial analysis, spatial data management, and/or environmental modelling.
  • Working knowledge of geospatial tools and platforms (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS), with a willingness to develop advanced technical skills.
  • Experience in a consulting or project-based environment supporting environmental approvals and spatial outputs.
  • Professional membership with a relevant body (e.g. SSI, ESA, EIANZ) or willingness to work towards membership (desirable).

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and implementation of approvals strategies across Commonwealth and State jurisdictions for infrastructure, energy, and development projects.
  • Manage delivery of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIS, EES, REFs) and development approval documentation.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver approvals within programme, scope, and budget while providing technical oversight.
  • Build trusted advisor relationships with clients and regulators, and support major pursuits and proposal development.
  • Deliver geospatial ecology services including GIS analysis, spatial data management, spatial modelling, and digital visualisation.
  • Collaborate with ecology and approvals teams to develop effective spatial solutions for project requirements.
  • Manage project performance including revenue, margin, and utilisation, and contribute to pricing and bid strategy.
