Postdoctoral Scholar - Civil and Environmental Engineering
5w1 month agoUniversity of Nevada, Reno
Reno, US · Full-time · $55,000 – $65,000
About this role
The Wildfire Science and Engineering Lab at the University of Nevada, Reno invites applicants for multiple Postdoctoral Fellow positions to conduct research in the emerging field of Wildfire Engineering across the Pre-Fire and Active-Fire domains. We seek dynamic individuals with knowledge of fire science or related fields.
Successful candidates will contribute to the development of solution platforms for integrating spatial and temporal information, harnessing remote sensing data, and using climate information for fuel modeling and mapping. They will also engage in wildfire modeling and loss assessment, and mitigation design for communities at the wildland-urban interface.
The candidates will work within a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced research and development environment, interacting with research members at the Lab and faculty at UNR and other partnering institutes and agencies. This collaborative setting fosters innovation and practical application of wildfire science.
The Lab is committed to postdoctoral mentorship and supports independent career development for successful candidates. This role provides a unique opportunity to advance expertise in wildfire engineering while contributing to critical infrastructure resilience. Candidates will produce high-quality research products that address pressing challenges in wildfire risk and infrastructure.
