About this role
The Associate Project Manager leads projects for the design, manufacturing, and construction of hydroelectric turbines for power plants. This role serves as the primary customer interface and leads the project team toward goals for safety, profitability, schedule, quality, and risk mitigation. The position also supports the Project Management Office with coordination and cross-team communication.
Day-to-day work includes monitoring project progress and recommending corrective actions to meet commitments. The manager drives change control, prepares contract change proposals, and negotiates with customers to resolve commercial disputes. Invoicing is managed to maximize organizational cash flow while satisfying ISO 9001 requirements.
American Hydro maintains a tight-knit team at the York, PA facility that takes pride in producing high-performance hydro turbines and large pumps. The Associate Project Manager oversees functional departments such as engineering, operations, field services, supply chain, and quality to ensure contract requirements are met.
Normal office conditions apply with up to 10 percent travel. The role emphasizes continuous improvement, on-time delivery, budget control, and overall project safety while adapting to changing conditions and working both independently and across teams.
Requirements
- Detail oriented with strong organization and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Primavera P6 scheduling
- Risk management and negotiation skills
- Critical thinking and ability to adapt to changes
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
- Bachelor’s degree with two years related experience or equivalent combination
- CAPM certification required
