About this role

John Sisk & Son are recruiting Site Engineers for a public grounds work scheme in Leeds. The role centres on setting out the site and maintaining dimensional control in line with contract drawings, specifications and site surveys.

Day-to-day duties include reviewing construction outputs, planning efficient sequences of work and ensuring all tolerances are achieved without loss of quality or floor space. The engineer works to company procedures and the Sisk Safety Statement at all times.

The position requires close liaison with project planners, supply chain partners and the employer’s representatives to resolve technical queries and maintain programme certainty. Quality records, inspection and test plans and RFIs are managed directly by the engineer.

Engineers receive structured professional development support and are encouraged to work towards chartered status with the Institution of Civil Engineers or Engineers Ireland while contributing to a family-owned international contractor.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Engineering
  • SMSTS or equivalent
  • First Aid Course
  • Lifting Supervisor Certification
  • Temporary Works Coordinator trained (TWC)
  • At least 3 years post-qualification experience
  • Working knowledge of Control of Temporary Works
  • Chartered or working towards professional status with Engineers Ireland or ICE

Responsibilities

  • Sets out the works in accordance with drawings, specifications and site surveys
  • Liaises with project planners regarding construction programmes and supplier outputs
  • Checks materials and works in progress for compliance with specified requirements
  • Inputs into Inspection and Test Plans and ensures supply chain test data meets contract requirements
  • Raises RFIs and resolves technical issues with employer’s representatives, suppliers and statutory authorities
  • Maintains quality control and record keeping in accordance with method statements and quality plans
  • Adheres to all safety requirements outlined in the company safety statement
