About this role

BG&E is a civil and structural engineering consultancy, now part of the SYSTRA Group. The firm delivers innovative designs that prioritise practicality and constructability across building projects. As a Structural Engineer in the Brisbane design team, you will collaborate with principal and senior engineers to deliver solutions on a wide variety of projects.

Your work will be primarily technical and include preparation of detailed calculations for building structural systems and elements. You will operate analytical models, contribute to complex modelling, and prepare sketches and technical reports. Review of structural documentation forms a core part of daily output.

The Building Team serves commercial, education, healthcare, and residential sectors using concrete, structural steel, masonry, and timber. You will coordinate designs with other consultants and join internal and external meetings with clients. Site visits for inspections and observation reports are also required.

Requirements

Relevant engineering qualifications and Chartered Engineer status or willingness to work towards chartership
At least 4 years of experience in building design and engineering practices
Client liaison experience
Capability to perform planning, concept and detailed design

Responsibilities

Prepare detailed calculations for a variety of building structural systems and elements
Operate analytical models and contribute to running complex models
Prepare sketches and technical reports
Review structural documentation
Coordinate designs with other project team consultants
Participate in internal design team meetings and external meetings with clients and consultants
Conduct site visits to perform inspections and provide observation reports and engineering advice
Support and manage elements of projects and contribute to bids and proposal development
