The Senior Structural Engineer will undertake structural design and analysis of HV substation and transmission line structures including lattice towers, poles, plinths, gantries and associated foundations. The role also includes preparing design calculations, reports, and engineering deliverables while carrying out assessments of existing infrastructure for upgrades and modifications.

You will coordinate with multidisciplinary teams of electrical, civil, geotechnical, architectural and building services professionals to ensure efficient and integrated design delivery. Additional duties include reviewing drawings for structural integrity and constructability plus providing construction support through RFI responses and site queries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • Demonstrated industry experience in structural design, including relevant experience in HV transmission lines, substations or similar infrastructure projects.
  • Solid understanding of structural behaviour under wind, earthquake, permanent and imposed loading conditions.
  • Experience in the design of steel structures and foundations.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software such as PLS-TOWER, PLS-POLE, SPACE GASS.
  • Experience with transmission line design tools such as PLS-CADD, including line routing, profiling, and tower spotting.
  • Understanding of conductor behaviour and its impact on structural loading.
  • Working knowledge of Australian standards and willingness to develop in utility-specific requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake structural design and analysis of HV substation and transmission line structures including lattice towers, poles, plinths, gantries and associated structures and foundations.
  • Prepare design calculations, reports, and engineering deliverables in line with project and client requirements.
  • Carry out structural assessments of existing HV substation and transmission line infrastructure for upgrades and modifications.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure efficient and integrated design delivery.
  • Review drawings and provide input to ensure structural integrity and constructability.
  • Provide support during construction, including responding to RFIs and site-related queries.
  • Contribute to maintaining quality, consistency, and timely delivery of engineering outputs.
