About this role

M/I Homes seeks a Construction Manager to supervise and coordinate on-site construction activities for assigned subdivisions. The role monitors completion of each construction phase through coordination, scheduling, and inspection of homes. This ensures quality craftsmanship and customer satisfaction in line with company objectives.

Daily work includes scheduling subcontractor work and deliveries while coordinating progress to meet deadlines. The manager reviews production through inspections during various phases and monitors delivery and use of materials and equipment. Blueprint review ensures compliance with plan specifications.

Acting as liaison between operations, subcontractors, and vendors, the role supervises work to ensure timely completion. Pre-construction and pre-settlement meetings with home buyers help resolve issues and maintain satisfaction. Training is provided to subordinates and subcontractors on methods and safety standards.

Production costs are controlled through review of time sheets and invoices to avoid overruns. Supervisory duties are carried out in accordance with company policies. Special projects are assisted as requested to support overall operations.

Requirements

  • High school graduate with at least one year of relevant course study in construction management techniques
  • Minimum four years of related experience in home building
  • Related supervisory experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of building codes, regulations, and construction process
  • Adaptability to coordinate several activities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Decisiveness and problem-solving abilities within budget limitations
  • Customer-service oriented with verbal and written communication skills
  • Blueprint reading and maintenance and carpentry skills
