About this role

The Project Manager oversees and plans all aspects of mechanical construction and fabrication projects. This role includes tracking project financials and reporting to executives at regular intervals. Full responsibility covers cost, schedule, and maintaining strong client relationships throughout delivery.

Daily work involves producing and managing project schedules with active change management. The manager assembles estimates, budgets, and proposals while directing project meetings. Additional duties include negotiating contracts and accepting project turnover for independent management.

Coordination occurs with the Project Director, Field Supervisors, Fabrication Shop Foremen, Project Engineers, and Project Accountants. The role requires managing subcontractors and vendors while mentoring subordinates. Client relationships are maintained to ensure satisfaction and future opportunities.

Support is provided to the business development team for bidding large projects. The manager takes the lead on bidding small and medium size projects. This position operates in a fast-paced federal project environment at the Hanford site.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with sound judgement, diplomacy and tact
  • Interpret drawings, specifications and other technical documents
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel with effective time management
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly in a fast paced environment
  • Extremely customer focused, very detail oriented, and driven
  • Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize on a weekly and daily basis as new needs emerge
  • Recognize what they know and do not know and ask questions for understanding
  • Trustworthy and ethical with ability to interact during challenging situations and generate positive outcomes

Responsibilities

  • Track and forecast project-level financials and report out to executives at regular intervals
  • Take responsibility for all phases of project delivery including cost, schedule, and client relationships
  • Coordinate with Project Director, Field Supervisors and Foremen, Fabrication Shop Foremen, Project Engineers and Project Accountants
  • Produce and manage project schedules with change management including estimates, budgets, and proposals
  • Manage subcontractors and vendors and negotiate contracts
  • Direct and attend project meetings while mentoring subordinates
  • Accept turnover of projects from Senior Project Manager and manage with minimal oversight
  • Assist business development team in bidding large projects and take lead on bidding small and medium size projects
