The Savannah office seeks a Senior Marine Structural Engineer / Manager to serve as technical lead on waterfront structures projects for the Georgia Ports Authority. This role engages on large port development projects and structural work related to marine and transportation infrastructure.

Lead the technical aspects of projects with construction costs from $5.0M to $150M, ensuring delivery within scope, budget, and schedule. Develop and maintain design standards for marine structures and foundations using cast-in-place concrete, prestressed concrete, steel, and timber. Conduct structural analysis, design, QA/QC reviews, and prepare deliverables like plans, calculations, and specifications.

Provide technical oversight and guidance to junior staff in the structural team while interfacing with multidisciplinary engineers across the company. Participate in quality reviews as a Senior Technical Reviewer and engage directly with clients. Collaborate on a variety of marine and transportation infrastructure engineering projects.

Contribute to business development, proposals, and client relationships to pursue growth opportunities. Participate in internal and external technical committees representing Moffatt & Nichol. Actively support training and mentorship of junior staff for professional development.

Requirements

  • Expertise in structural analysis and design of marine structures and foundations
  • Experience with materials including cast-in-place concrete, prestressed concrete, steel, and timber in waterfront applications
  • Proven ability to lead technical delivery on large-scale infrastructure projects up to $150M
  • Proficiency in QA/QC processes and preparation of engineering deliverables such as plans, calculations, and specifications
  • Technical leadership skills for mentoring junior engineers and ensuring best practices
  • Familiarity with multidisciplinary coordination in marine and transportation infrastructure
  • Capability to engage clients and contribute to business development in ports and harbors sector

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain standards for the design of marine structures and foundations utilizing cast-in-place and prestressed concrete, steel, and timber
  • Lead the technical aspects of projects with construction costs ranging from $5.0M to $150M, ensuring delivery within scope, budget, and schedule
  • Provide guidance and technical leadership to junior staff members within the structural team
  • Interface and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers for seamless structural design integration
  • Conduct structural analysis and design, perform QA/QC reviews, and prepare project deliverables including plans, calculations, specifications, estimates, reports, and memorandums
  • Contribute to proposals and business development activities, fostering relationships with clients
  • Participate in technical committees internally and externally, representing the firm
  • Conduct quality reviews of deliverables as a Senior Technical Reviewer
