About this role
Timmons Group is seeking an Environmental Project Manager for our Environmental Group in Richmond, VA. This role oversees the production and delivery of technically sound products that meet client expectations, on time and on or under budget.
Day-to-day, the Environmental Project Manager collects and interprets data, prepares environmental documents, and coordinates with regulatory agencies on permitting tasks. They independently communicate technical matters to clients and provide accurate consulting as a subject matter expert.
This individual mentors Environmental Technicians and Scientists, ensuring quality through formal and informal QA/QC. They delegate tasks, monitor schedules, and proactively resolve technical, schedule, or financial issues while coordinating timely invoicing.
Opportunity exists to develop business through proposal writing, client cross-marketing, and project leadership. The role requires day travel and occasional overnight stays, working in a dynamic environment that values flexibility, detail-orientation, and commitment to the firm's vision.
Requirements
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team with excellent time management skills to ensure deadlines are met.
- Must be capable of correctly operating technical analysis equipment and computer equipment.
- Must possess strong technical verbal and technical writing skills and be able to read technical literature, regulations, guidance documents, and engineering plans.
- Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be able to apply professional knowledge to routine and non-routine tasks and engineering activities.
- Must have demonstrated subject matter expertise related to environmental science and consulting.
- Must be capable of acting as an independent contributor by successfully completing/directing tasks and delivering technically sound reports and products.
- CADD/GIS skills preferred.
Responsibilities
- Oversee, produce, and deliver technically sound products that meet internal and external client expectations on time and on or under budget.
- Prepare environmental documents and independently coordinate with regulatory agencies on permitting tasks to ensure compliance.
- Act as a subject matter expert to direct, monitor, and complete assigned projects using professional judgment.
- Develop proposals, including calculating and estimating time schedules and costs of proposed work.
- Cross-market other firm services to existing clients as appropriate.
- Serve as a mentor to teach, train, and answer questions of Environmental Technicians and Environmental Scientists I, II & III.
- Perform formal and informal QA/QC checks on assigned tasks to ensure accuracy.
- Proactively identify technical, schedule, or financial issues and seek resolution with the client as appropriate.
