The position centers on collecting environmental data from sites in various stages of assessment and remediation. Under direct supervision, the engineer will complete defined field and office tasks while progressing sites toward regulatory closure. A strong interest in environmental engineering or geology is essential for success in this hands-on role.

Work occurs within the context of local, state, and federal regulations as part of a project team directed by a project manager. The engineer collaborates with other staff professionals on technical reports, data analysis, and engineered solutions. Daily activities emphasize learning the fundamentals of environmental data collection and quality assurance practices.

Requirements

  • 0-3 years of environmental engineering experience
  • B.S. degree in geology, engineering, or the environmental sciences
  • Environmental field sampling experience
  • OSHA 40HR HAZWOPER training
  • E.I.T. certification

Responsibilities

  • Collect groundwater samples and soil samples from sites in assessment and remediation
  • Install monitoring wells and support Phase I Environmental Site Assessments
  • Prepare and inspect Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plans and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans
  • Perform air quality permitting and engineering tasks
  • Identify and evaluate sensitive receptors during site investigations
  • Analyze and interpret analytical data while authoring technical reports
  • Conduct analytical data validation and Quality Assurance/Quality Control procedures
  • Provide observation and documentation in support of scientific investigations and engineered solutions
