The Senior Environmental Engineer Water role is based at the Cortez operation and centers on water management, compliance monitoring systems, and permitting.
Core work includes managing compliance systems for water pollution control permits, potable water permits, stormwater permits, and dewatering programs. The position also covers preparation of Quarterly, Semi-Annual and Annual Water Pollution Control Permit reports plus support for hydrologic investigations and planning.

This role offers the chance to coordinate permitting activities, supervise well drilling and design, and work with multiple stakeholders across Cortez and NGM. You will align practices with ISO 14001 and 45001 standards while mentoring staff and responding to environmental incidents.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Hydrology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field required
- Applicable Master’s Degree preferred
- At least five years of direct experience in environmental compliance, including regulatory agency interactions required
Responsibilities
- Manage compliance systems for water pollution control permits, potable water permits, stormwater permits, and dewatering programs.
- Prepare Quarterly, Semi-Annual and Annual Water Pollution Control Permit reports.
- Support hydrologic investigations, planning, projects and reporting.
- Coordinate permitting activities associated with water management needs, including review of application and modification designs.
- Provide supervision and support of well drilling and design.
- Collect, review, and analyze water level data and water quality samples from monitoring wells.
- Maintain systems and programs to ensure permit compliance and accompany regulatory inspectors on periodic inspections.
- Provide training, mentoring, and supervisory support to Environmental staff and other NGM employees.
