About this role

Leidos is seeking a Senior Civil - Site Engineer to join the civil engineering department in Charlotte, Orlando, Atlanta, or Portland offices. Work on electric utility projects involving civil design for large- and small-scale developments. Candidates with commercial/industrial site development, roadway corridor, or mass grading experience will be considered.

Function as a senior engineer performing design reviews, developing junior staff, and contributing to bids and proposals. Take responsible engineer role on client projects, overseeing work and ensuring quality control on design packages. Conduct site visits to client substation facilities with occasional travel for meetings and events.

Experience in front-facing client operations like lunch and learns and kick-off meetings is preferred. Comply with quality control, safe work practices, and maintain project scope, schedule, and budget expectations. Serve as a senior member of a design team with engineers, designers, and drafting technicians.

This position supports locations including Hendersonville TN, Walled Lake MI, Framingham MA, Denver CO, and Chicago IL. Hybrid or fully remote may be considered. Grow through training, teamwork, and exposure to challenging technical work solving client problems with latest technology.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or related degree
  • Minimum of 4 years of directly applicable civil-site design experience
  • P.E. license preferred
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D software (preferred) and/or MicroStation software
  • Experience with Hydraflow, HydroCAD, Stormwise (ICPR4), and other hydrologic and hydraulic modeling programs
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite, Bluebeam, and other general software tools
  • Strong analytical and technical writing skills
  • Willing to travel up to 25% and authorized to work in U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Develop site layout, grading, and drainage design
  • Review civil drawings including site plan, grading and drainage in coordination with structural and physical layout drawings
  • Perform stormwater modeling and design
  • Design erosion and sediment control
  • Design access roads
  • Coordinate and design utilities
  • Layout and design retaining walls
  • Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and perform construction observation
