About this role

This role involves taking overall responsibility for civil, road, and infrastructure design and design review activities for assigned projects. You will lead the technical review and checking of contractor design submissions as part of the internal quality assurance and control process.

Day-to-day, you will coordinate closely with design, construction management, and project control teams to ensure design deliverables align with construction sequencing, site constraints, and project programme requirements. You will also prepare, review, and approve technical correspondence, reports, and submissions related to road, infrastructure, geotechnical, and pavement design matters.

You will lead, mentor, and manage a team of Design Engineers, providing technical guidance, design oversight, and support to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery. The role requires independent liaison with Clients, Contractors, and relevant government authorities throughout the design process to clarify requirements and address technical issues.

This position offers the opportunity to work on large-scale road and transport infrastructure projects, including highways, interchanges, local roads, drainage systems, earthworks, and associated infrastructure works. You will also provide technical support during tender and proposal stages, contributing to methodology, design concepts, risk assessment, and pricing for successful project pursuits.

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised and reputable university
Minimum 5 years of relevant civil engineering experience in large-scale road, highway, or infrastructure projects, including design, analysis, and review of civil and geotechnical works
Skill, knowledge, and ability to manage and coordinate all design activities
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Experience ensuring designs comply with Design Process Plan, SMEC standards, and applicable codes including British Standards, ASTM, AASHTO, and relevant Philippine standards for roads and public infrastructure
Proven ability to review and approve design reports, calculations, drawings, and technical documents in accordance with project specifications and client requirements

Responsibilities

Take overall responsibility for civil, road, and infrastructure design and design review activities for assigned projects, including technical review and checking of contractor design submissions
Coordinate closely with design, construction management, and project control teams to ensure design deliverables align with construction sequencing, site constraints, and project programme requirements
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Design Engineers, providing technical guidance, design oversight, and support for timely and high-quality project delivery
Prepare, review, and approve technical correspondence, reports, and submissions related to road, infrastructure, geotechnical, and pavement design matters
Provide professional civil and infrastructure engineering services for road and transport infrastructure projects, including highways, interchanges, local roads, drainage systems, earthworks, and associated works
Undertake and review the analysis and design of earthworks, ground improvement, pavement systems, slope stability, and associated geotechnical works
Carry out and approve the design and assessment of civil and structural elements, including foundations, retaining structures, culverts, bridges, and ancillary structures using reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, and steel
Liaise independently with Clients, Contractors, and relevant government authorities throughout the design process to clarify requirements and address technical issues
