STV is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to support a $3-$5 billion dollar project in delivering high-quality infrastructure projects. This role ensures compliance with transportation standards while providing technical guidance throughout planning, design, and construction phases. Structured onboarding and mentorship build expertise in geotechnical analysis, risk assessment, and project delivery.

The engineer assists the Geotechnical Engineering Manager with site investigations, soil testing, and foundation design. Daily work includes developing geotechnical scope, units, and staff hours while performing negotiations with the design team. Technical guidance covers ground improvement, slope stability, and foundation systems.

Collaboration occurs with structural and roadway engineers to integrate geotechnical solutions into design plans. The role involves reviewing reports, calculations, and design recommendations while identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies. Support extends to permitting, stakeholder coordination, and construction oversight.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of geotechnical engineering experience, including leadership roles in infrastructure projects.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida or the ability to obtain one within six months.
  • Expertise in geotechnical analysis, foundation design, and soil-structure interaction.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, LPILE, GeoStudio, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of geotechnical standards, specifications, and design criteria.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to address complex subsurface challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Geotechnical Engineering Manager in guiding geotechnical engineering efforts including site investigations, soil testing, and foundation design.
  • Ensure compliance with geotechnical standards, specifications, and best practices.
  • Develop the geotechnical scope, units, and staff hours and perform negotiations with the design team.
  • Provide technical guidance on ground improvement, slope stability, and foundation systems.
  • Collaborate with structural and roadway engineers to integrate geotechnical solutions into design plans.
  • Review geotechnical reports, calculations, and design recommendations.
  • Identify geotechnical risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Support project permitting, stakeholder coordination, and construction oversight.
