The Tampa office seeks an entry-level engineer to provide engineering and design support within the solid waste practice serving private and municipal clients in landfill, landfill gas, compost, and solid waste management industries.

Workplace culture is guided by trust, care, and grow. The role combines office-based design and permitting tasks with 10-20% local field work involving sampling, drilling oversight, and construction quality assurance.

Engineers advance their careers through training, mentoring, and hands-on experience across stormwater, industrial wastewater, air quality, landfill gas systems, environmental compliance, and permitting projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in civil, environmental, biosystems, or geotechnical engineering required.
  • 3 months of relevant solid waste, environmental and/or engineering internship, work and/or research experience required.
  • Ability to learn AutoCAD or comparable software required.
  • Local field work expected 10-20% with the remainder in the Tampa office required.
  • Strong preference for individuals who have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a driving record in good standing required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering and design support for stormwater, industrial wastewater, air quality, landfill gas systems, environmental compliance, permitting, and construction projects.
  • Prepare solid waste facility and environmental control system infrastructure permit applications, regulatory agency submittals, and supporting documentation.
  • Collect samples including soil, air, surface water, groundwater, and landfill gas from hazardous and non-hazardous sites.
  • Oversee drilling activities involving monitoring well installation, borehole logging, well development, and sampling.
  • Conduct and document construction quality assurance observations to ensure compliance with construction documents.
  • Complete quality control reviews on reports, design plans, design calculations, and data prior to submission.
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and clients with project manager support and independently manage project communications.
  • Coordinate with GIS and CAD drafters or use AutoCAD and ArcGIS to produce basic design plans and figures.
