We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Senior Structures/Bridges Engineer to join our Consulting Structures Team in Dublin. Standard hours are 40 per week with flexible practices including hybrid, part-time and flexible patterns. Our network of offices across the UK and Ireland supports options that match your needs as life evolves.
Senior Engineers play an important part within the Structures team, delivering local, national and international projects for clients including Department for Infrastructure, Translink, National Highways, Transport Scotland and Network Rail. As part of the Dublin team, you’ll work on local projects and support initiatives in Ireland and the UK remotely. You will provide effective support to your Design Team Leader on various Structures schemes.
You will take the lead on projects, mentor junior engineers and technicians, and contribute to professional development as a Delegated Engineer. Manage a small local technical team and drive Health and Safety practices. Liaise with clients and suppliers while contributing to bids and work-winning.
Requirements
- Developed experience and expertise within the Structures field, probably gained in an Engineer role or equivalent
- Ability to produce or oversee technically sound engineering solutions complying with relevant technical standards and client requirements
- Take ownership for preparation and checking of deliverables to a reasonable standard
- Very good working knowledge of relevant software and analytical tools such as LUSAS and Autodesk Structural Bridge Design
Responsibilities
- Lead a team, producing technically sound engineering solutions
- Take ownership and lead projects from start to finish, from preparing the quotation to handover
- Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings and documentation to meet quality, cost and programme criteria
- Oversee actions of junior staff and take responsibility for their work
- Contribute to professional development of junior staff and act as a Delegated Engineer
- Liaise with client and supplier representatives, attend progress meetings and respond to queries
- Manage a small, locally based, single-discipline technical team and deliver their workload
- Contribute to preparation of bids and general work-winning function
- Drive effective Health and Safety practices within the team
