About this role

APTIM is executing some of the most technically complex federal demolition and environmental redevelopment projects in the country. We are seeking a Construction Manager to lead large-scale, high-visibility demolition operations at Hunters Point Naval Shipyard, one of the most scrutinized federal programs. This role demands a seasoned demolition leader for complex federal projects.

The Senior Construction Manager serves as the on-site authority for demolition field execution, with full operational control of planning, sequencing, labor coordination, safety, schedule, and cost. You will directly lead craft workforce starting at 25+ personnel, expanding to 50-75+ multi-trade workers during peak operations. Visible field leadership and production accountability are essential.

Coordinate union craft labor under Project Labor Agreements, including operators, laborers, carpenters, ironworkers, and subcontractors. Maintain relationships with union representatives while ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements. Serve as primary field contact with Navy, USACE, EPA, and state regulators.

Drive production to meet aggressive federal milestones in environmentally sensitive conditions. Integrate demolition with abatement and remediation teams while mitigating risks. Lead field-level change management on cost-reimbursable and firm-fixed-price task orders.

Requirements

  • 10-15+ years of construction management experience
  • Demonstrated leadership on heavy industrial or federal demolition projects
  • Proven experience directly managing union craft labor under Project Labor Agreements
  • Experience with structural teardown, hazardous materials, and environmental controls
  • Knowledge of regulatory oversight including HAZWOPER, OSHA, and environmental containment
  • Strong skills in labor coordination and workforce scaling in union environments
  • Ability to maintain defensible field documentation and daily reporting

Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of demolition planning and daily production management
  • Develop and implement controlled demolition sequencing in environmentally sensitive conditions

  • Directly supervise union or PLA craft workforce (minimum 25+ personnel, scalable to 75+)
  • Coordinate multiple trades including operators, laborers, carpenters, ironworkers, truck drivers, and specialty subcontractors
  • Serve as primary field point-of-contact with Navy, USACE, EPA, and state regulators
  • Drive production to meet aggressive federal milestones
  • Control cost-reimbursable and firm-fixed-price task orders
