About this role

Barr is seeking a senior environmental engineer to join our Bismarck team. In this hybrid role, you will support the Assessment and Remediation business unit. Work assignments include managing multidisciplinary teams and preparing technical work plans and reports.

You will coordinate ASTM Phase I environmental site assessments and investigate contaminated soil, sediment, groundwater, and vapor intrusion. Responsibilities encompass conducting remediation technology evaluations, feasibility studies, and developing site management strategies. You will also prepare remedial design and response action plans while coordinating site remediation activities.

Project duties involve preparing cost estimates, developing proposals, scopes of work, and budgets. You will handle communications, meetings, and negotiations with clients and regulatory personnel, providing overall project management. Mentoring junior staff and business development through client interactions are key elements.

Requirements

  • Apply environmental engineering expertise to investigate contaminated media and implement remediation strategies
  • Oversee complex project scopes, schedules, and budgets while coordinating fieldwork and contractors
  • Evaluate environmental data and site conditions to design practical remediation solutions
  • Prepare clear reports, work plans, proposals, and engage in client and regulator meetings
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, colleagues, and regulators through proactive communication
  • Demonstrate analytical skills, attention to detail, and sound judgment in dynamic environments
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior staff
