This role offers exposure to diverse building types, materials, and project scales while working with experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams. Involved throughout the project lifecycle to develop technical and practical design skills. Based in Burnaby supporting projects primarily across Western Canada.

Ideal for Junior or Intermediate Structural Engineers motivated by work variety and hands-on experience. Particular interest in Mass Timber and creatively solving client problems. Committed to mentoring and growing talented individuals in a team approach.

Requirements

  • Junior or Intermediate Structural Engineer background
  • Interest in Mass Timber design
  • Familiarity with structural materials including light-frame wood, masonry, concrete, and steel
  • Proficiency in independent structural design and peer review processes
  • Experience coordinating with architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Skills in structural assessments for existing buildings
  • Knowledge of construction administration and field review procedures

Responsibilities

  • Deliver structural designs from concept through detailed design, tender, and construction across a variety of building types and materials (mass timber, light-frame wood, masonry, concrete, and steel)
  • Collaborate with team members to produce coordinated, high-quality structural deliverables
  • Perform designs independently, check design work of others, and perform peer reviews
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated design solutions
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to technical discussions and decision-making
  • Complete structural assessments and contribute to technical reports for existing buildings and structures
  • Support construction administration activities, including field reviews and travel to project sites as required
  • Maintain quality assurance practices and documentation standards across all project phases
