About this role
Geosyntec Consultants offers an Intern / Co-Op position in Civil / Environmental Engineering at its Oakland, Walnut Creek, Orange County or Los Angeles offices. The role applies civil, geotechnical, environmental and water resources engineering knowledge to real-world projects while developing consulting business skills.
Interns perform engineering calculations with computer-based tools and prepare technical documents including reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications and proposals. Additional tasks include data input and analysis to create maps, tables and figures plus fieldwork such as soil and groundwater sampling.
The firm serves private and public clients on complex environmental, natural resource and civil infrastructure challenges from offices worldwide. Interns interact daily with engineers, geologists, CADD operators, contractors and administrative staff in a collaborative project environment.
Geosyntec invests in employee development with opportunities to return for up to two additional semester rotations. The position runs full-time for 13 to 15 weeks during summer 2026 and supports well-being programs for employees and families.
Requirements
- Currently registered in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in engineering or related STEM discipline
- Degree focus in civil, geotechnical, environmental or water resources engineering
- Experience with ArcView, CADD and Microsoft Office
- Experience in AI and Large Language Model functional literacy
- Outstanding academic credentials and strong interpersonal, technical writing and problem-solving skills
- Valid U.S. driver’s license, reliable transportation and satisfactory driving record
Responsibilities
- Assist with engineering calculations using computer-based technical tools
- Prepare technical writing of reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications and proposals
- Perform data input and analysis including preparation of maps, tables and figures
- Interact with engineers, geologists, CADD operators, contractors and construction personnel
- Conduct fieldwork such as soil and groundwater sampling, stormwater inspections and drilling oversight
- Support AI and LLM-driven initiatives
- Drive to client project sites and other business locations as needed
