About this role

This position offers you the ability to directly apply your knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design. As a member of an engineering and design team, you will work on a range of industrial, power, oil and gas facilities. Project responsibilities include creating calculations, documents, designs, and specifications.

You will conduct structural analyses, including loading conditions such as wind, seismic, blast, and pressurization. Develop integrated structural designs and perform supporting calculations for planned work. Prepare technical specifications for structural materials.

Guide junior-level engineers and designers in structural engineering design efforts, including coordination of detailed design phases. Coordinate and provide guidance to other engineers, project managers, client personnel, and suppliers for complete and timely designs. Perform independent reviews of calculations and drawing preparation by others.

Work on challenging assignments investigating, troubleshooting, and solving structural engineering issues. Perform reviews of existing facilities to propose upgrades and replacements, presenting findings to clients and peers. There is potential for travel to client offices, vendor sites, and plant locations for design reviews and field verification.

This position is based on a hybrid work schedule in the Clayton, Missouri office, requiring in-office work 3 days per week. Lead others in using data, automation, and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs.

Requirements

  • BSCE (MSCE preferred) from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program
  • Six or more years working in project teams on industrial, power, oil and gas facilities focusing on steel structures and concrete foundations
  • PE license or ability to earn a PE license
  • Experience in writing and providing support documentation for structural engineering calculations
  • Technically knowledgeable in practical application of structural engineering including analysis for supports, loads, and design integrity
  • Proficiency with MathCad, STAAD PRO, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS
  • Familiarity with design codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications and excellent written and verbal communication skills
